Meet Grace and Miriam

  • Grace Smith

I've been teaching for 12 years, working both in public and private schools. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Western Washington University in 2013 and spent nine wonderful years as a Music Specialist at Custer Elementary. I absolutely love music and enjoy those special moments of connection and joy with others. I also find that slowing down, being mindful and spending time in nature are really important to me. Happy moments for me include singing with children, relaxing on a beach with my feet buried in the sand, putzing in my flower garden, or petting one of my adorable Ragdoll sister kitties. I also appreciate watching a good movie with my husband and creating imaginative games with my son.

  • Miriam Buckman

I’ve been working with children for 15+ years, and I love creating affirming, compassionate, and holistically-informed spaces for children to learn, be creative, and thrive. I’ve worked in schools, outdoor nature reserves and summer camps, and run arts and mindfulness programs. I have an interdisciplinary BA in Therapy Through Nature and Expressive Arts, and am a graduate student for mental health counseling. I love having time to meditate, be outdoors, read, write, and create art, in addition to being active in the community through spirituality, music, education, and peace-work. I love collaborating with Grace and I look forward to our summer camp together!
